Shanghai Tang

Some thoughts after Lead class today.

1. Confidence is so essential. By the end of this class, I realized I had some really great points. But I didn’t try hard enough to present an idea that is totally different from everybody. And that was a pity for me as well to the rest of the class. I remember a senior once said that you should bang the table to make others listen if you have time once you have a really great point.

2. Although I do not realize that, I do have some edge in China related topics.

3. Action plan: Get the confidence. New target now: speak in every class.

CCHMC

It was a very interesting case to have the former Chairman of Board sit in the class to discuss the case with us.

1. Transparency won them trust. Basically what they did is they present to the parents of the sick kids how poor the hospital was performing and got their help to improve. From 20th percentile to national recognized in 6 years.

2. Most of my classmates have doubt in their transparency model. So do I. But obviously CCHMC has found a way to make it work.

3. The sharp contrast between CCHMC and children’s hospital in China! thinking of that 手足口病 帖子 (Let me mark this down and talk about this case later)
